School of Management Studies, EDC Congratulates Kogi Poly Rector on Reappointment, Reaffirms Support

The School of Management Studies, and the Directorate of Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja have congratulated the Rector, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, on the renewal of his appointment for a second term.

On Wednesday, a delegation from the School of Management Studies, led by the Dean, Dr. (Mrs.) Ruth Haruna, and the Directorate of Entrepreneurship Development Centre, led by the Director, Dr. (Mrs) Faith Acharu Tony-Okeme paid a congratulatory visit to the Rector at the Council Chamber, Kogi State Polytechnic Main Campus, Lokoja

Dr. (Mrs.) Haruna praised Dr. Usman’s leadership style, which she stated to have brought about transformative impacts on, and numerous benefits to Kogi State Polytechnic.

She expressed the School of Management Studies’ enthusiasm and support for the Rector over his visionary leadership, which she said had already yielded significant growth and progress for the Institution.

Dr. (Mrs) Haruna highlighted the various physical structures and infrastructural development on the campuses of the Polytechnic as testaments to Prof. Usman’s exceptional leadership qualities, demonstrating his ability to drive progress and deliver results.

Dr. Tunde Puke, in his goodwill message, commended the Rector for exemplifying fairness, equity, and justice through his leadership approach.

He noted that the Rector’s reappointment was a testament to his appreciative performance and a call to even greater responsibility.

Dr. Puke reassured the Rector of the School of Management’s unwavering support for his vision, pledging to continue to work together towards the growth and development of the Institution.

On her part, the Director, Directorate of Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dr. (Mrs ) Faith Acharu Tony-Okeme congratulated Prof. Usman on his reappointment, noting that such a rare gesture was a clear indication of the government’s satisfaction with the Rector’s outstanding performance.

She praised the Rector’s uncommon achievements and his reappointment before the end of his tenure, which she described as a rare milestone and a clear indication that the government was pleased with his unwavering dedication to his duties.

The Director also seized the opportunity to share a notable accomplishment by the Directorate. She proudly announced that four (4) staff members, including herself, had been honoured with the National Skill Qualification (NSQ) Certificate by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The recipients, who included Mrs. Modupe Atojoko, Mrs. Onimisi Zainab, Mr. Adagu Ahmed Sani, and Dr. Okeme Acharu were recognized for their exceptional performance in Quality Assurance of Assessment (QAA).

In his response to the visiting bodies, the Rector expressed delight with the school of Management Studies, and Directorate of Entrepreneurship Development Centre for the visit.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the two bodies for their unwavering commitment and support, and pledged to make Kogi State Polytechnic a more attractive institution through his focus on quality assurance in teaching, staff welfare, and security of lives and property on the campus.

Prof. Usman particularly appreciated the leadership of the School of Management Studies for their solidarity and support, and reassured them that he would continue to advocate the legitimate entitlements of staff members.

He also commended the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) for elevating the Directorate’s standards, and promised to support its expansion.

He announced that Kogi State Polytechnic Directorate of Entrepreneurship Development Centre had been approved to host workshops for institutions in the North Central region, a testament to the institution’s growing reputation and capacity.

Dr. Usman expressed his deepest gratitude to the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for laying a solid foundation that had enabled consolidation and continuity.

He also extended his profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the renewal of his appointment for a second term, effective from February 12th, 2025.

Dr. Usman expressed his sincere gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in him by both leaders, acknowledging that their support would propel him to strive for even more academic excellence and advancement that would benefit the entire Polytechnic community.

The Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Olowo Taiwo in his vote of thanks commended the Rector for his outstanding leadership and vision, which had led to the significant growth and development in the Institution.

He reaffirmed the School’s commitment to continued support and collaboration with the Rector’s administration, united in their pursuit of academic excellence.

Highlights of the visit were the presentation of congratulatory card from School of Management Studies to the Rector and the symbolic presentation of QAA certificates to the participants.
