A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the immediate past Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kogi State, Prince Sani Ogu Salisu has hailed the resolution of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to dissolve the National Working Committee of the party as well as setting up a caretaker and extra ordinary national convention committee.

The former Commissioner made the disclosure while reacting to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu on “why the party must not disintegrate”.

The chieftain further commended the choices of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Hon. Stella Okotete of NEXIM Bank and Barrister Ismail Ahmed as chairman, women and youth representatives respectively, noting that their choices are likeable to putting a round peg in a round hole.

“Been a former National Secretary of our great party, a serving Governor and a very loyal party man who understands the intrigues of administration as well as peaceful conflict resolutions, His Excellency, Governor Buni will no doubt bring his wealth of experience to bear in the onerous task of harmonizing warring factions within the party as well as organizing a credible and acceptable extra ordinary convention in the shortest possible time.

“Hon. Stella is on her part, an Ambassador of the SDGs which strongly upholds women equity cum participation in governance. The Niger-Delta lioness has a long standing record of women mobilization cum genuine integration for progress and there is no iota of doubt in her capacity to do more, giving the high expectations of our party men and supporters all over the country,” the Prince asserted.

Furthermore, he expressed joy in the inclusion of a frontline youth mobiliser, Barrister Ismail Ahmed who has hitherto been harping on the need for overhaul and genuine reconciliation of the party’s manifesto and style of governance at all level stressing that his intuitiveness will no doubt chat good causes for the committee.

Prince Salisu also used the opportunity to call on the warring factions to come to terms with the resolution which he noted is in the overall interest of the party, stability of the nation and internal democracy calling on party faithfuls to desist from name callings and other derogatory comments that are capable of undermining the party’s relative peace.
