Report: Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Wraps Up 2017 in Style

Yesterday, 31st December 2017 was a very busy day for the Member representing Ankpa 1 State Constituency and the Deputy Majority Leader of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honorable Ahmed Mohammed and his team as they toured round ANKPA District. He started by receiving the Nigerian Motorcycle Transport Association NIMOTA Abache-Ankpa, and donated a motorcycle to them. This was part of the request made by the union two months ago (November 2017).

Hon. Ahmed Ahmed also paid a visit to inmates in the Nigerian Prisons Service Ankpa LGA. He was accompanied by Alhaji Ibrahim Linco Ocheje, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Halims, SSA on political Affairs Kogi East, Honorable Abdulsalam Okoyawo and SSA to the governor on Youth Empowerment, and other respected dignitaries.
In his very brief speech, he took time to sensitize them on the administration of Criminal Justice act 2017 which was passed and assented to by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello recently, the benefits in persecution of cases, and also underscored the need for partnership with the prison service toward evolving programmes that would benefit the inmates. While referring to Prisons as “a rehabilitation center”, he said there’s a need for the state government to build a Vocational and Training centre which will change their mentality and make them fully equipped and well responsible when they get out of prison.
Alhaji Ibrahim Linco Ocheje while speaking to the inmates encouraged them to be good citizens when they are out. In his words;  “I will like us to understand that the inmates are our younger ones, brothers and sisters; 98 percent of them are people from this LGA, therein lies the need for us to remember them and visit them.
He presented food items and toiletries to the inmates and was received by the Assistant Comptroller of Prisons Mr. Ampitan Peter O. He thanked the honorable and his entourage, adding that the materials would go along way to improve on the infrastructure and lives in the prison.

He visited Ojuwo-Ogaji in Ankpa LGA to inaugurate his foundation (Ahmed Mohammed Foundation). Also accompanied by Chairman Kogi East elders forum and a political bulldozer, Alhaji Ibrahim Linco Ocheje, and appointees of the State government. Alhaji Linco, on behalf of the community pleaded with Honorable Ahmed to extend his “Water for all” project to Ogaji, and his request was granted immediately for the benefit of the people. It was flagged-off successfully and work is to commence next week.
5:00PM
On the 12th August 2017, The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC led by the Officer-In-Charge of Ojogobi Community in Ankpa LGA, Mrs. Zainab Lami Yusuf paid a courtesy visit to Honorable Ahmed Mohammed at his residence in Abache-Ankpa LGA and made a request of a motorcycle to ease their patrols within the villages and also run some official assignments.
The Deputy Majority Leader, who promised to support the Civil Defence in their worthy services they have continued to render selflessly to the community, and believes firmly that the Grassroots Security Agency will not relent on their mandate to make Ojogobi safe for all, presented the motorcycle to the officers of the NSCDC yesterday 31st December, 2017.
The OC in charge, Mrs. Lami Zainab Yusuf who was very elated on the visit of Ahmed Ahmed, assured him that the Corps will remain committed to the execution of its constitutional mandate of Protection of Critical Infrastructure, monitoring and supervising  in order to overhaul the community of any illegalities. Adding that they will tackle every form of insecurity that might arise and to ensure prompt response to rescue operations.
His presence was also caught by the youths and people in the community who immediately pleaded that “He has to do something before leaving”. They Youths and leaders also made a request that a borehole be provided to ease their far distance of getting drinking water. It was successfully flagged-off and Work is to commence next week.
