Rep Halims Doles Out N20 Million Grants to 300 Constituents Trained in DSTV, CCTV Installation

…Says Our Capacity Building Programs Are Aimed At Local Economic Development

No fewer than three hundred constituents from Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State have been trained in DSTV and CCTV installation and access control by the Centre for Management Development, Abuja on the facilitation of the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims 

Addressing the participants during the grand finale of the five day entrepreneurial development training programme at Ankpa, the headquarters of Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims charged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the new knowledge impacted in them to better their lots and by extension, improve the local economy of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Local Government Areas.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Okeme Emmanuel, the Federal lawmaker said having recognized the hardworking nature of his people amidst the low availability of sustainable government jobs, he deemed it necessary to attract the DSTV and CCTV installation and access control training to them as a capacity building for the development of the area’s local economy.

Also speaking at the event, Barr. Tony Omali who is the Legislative Aide to Rep. Halims noted that it is a rare privilege to be selected out of the teeming population to be part of the entrepreneurial training programme and therefore called on the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity by improving their economic standards in the society.

In addition to the training, a total of fifteen million naira grants were disbursed to about three hundred beneficiaries who went home with the sum of fifty thousand naira each as honorarium and start up capital for them to acquire the basic tools of their new skill. Seventy other constituents received fifty thousand naira each totalling three million five hundred thousand naira as special consideration while another five million was expended on field operations.

A representative of the Centre for Management Development, Mr. Clement Maji said the essence of the training was to empower the people to be self reliant. He pointed out that the gesture was part of the entrepreneurial training programme organized by the Federal Government through the Centre for Management Development, Abuja to empower people across some selected Federal  constituencies in Nigeria.

On his part, the Executive Director of Anino Construction Limited, ably represented by Mr. Benjamin Adebola said the training will not only empower the people but is capable of growing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Nigeria stressing that the programme would not have been possible without a heart of service as displayed by the lawmaker representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Highlight of the grand finale was the presentation of certificates to the participants shortly after an interactive session during which some of the participants expressed gratitude to their representative for the kind gesture and prayed that God will continue to strengthen him in all his political endeavours.
