TYRANNY: GOV BELLO SHOULD RELEASE JOHNSON MUSA, KOGI STATE IS NOT THE LION’S DEN
We have observed the evil political habits of the governor of Kogi state, Mr Yahaya Bello and his autocratic tendencies since his emergence as the ‘duly elected governor of Kogi state?’. This is not the first time the adolescent governor is trampling on the fundamental human rights of a youth. In April this year, through the efforts of Kogi state Police Commissioner, Mr Wilson Inalegwu who we understand is a political police officer, arrested a renowned blogger and activist, Comrade Austin Okai, incarcerating him illegally for months.
Still flexing his political muscles, Mr Bello stationed a road block in the state through the efforts of the police and DSS on the 2nd day of August, 2017 with a manhunt arresting another vibrant activist who was enroute his hometown for a medical leave.
We learnt Johnson Musa is being denied food, water and even his drugs since he was ‘kidnapped’ which is tagged as an arrest.
Sequel to this ugly development, we are giving Governor Bello and his evil cronies, a 24 hours ultimatum to release Johnson Musa else we take laws into our hands because we are tired of his excesses.
In the same light, we call on the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Inspector General of Police, Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International to intervene with a caution on the Governor to desist from his undemocratic practices.
Mr Yahaya Bello is killing democracy in Kogi state and his draconian leadership is attracting shame and dishonor to his disputed office and the entire Kogi state. He must learn to respect the rule of law and the tenets of democracy. Kogi state is not the lion’s den”.
The statement was signed by the National Secretary of the group, Comrade Abdulkadir Ohida.
