The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area Transition Committee, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has said that the reality of leaving the the office one day at the end of his tenure is never lost on him as such possibility has kept him humble and dedicated to making impact within the period he would occupy the position.

He stated this on Tuesday while giving his stewardship to journalists in Lokoja since his assumption of office three months ago.

The Chairman stated that his desire to make the welfare of civil servants in the council a priority was because he understands how they feel and their plight, hence his decision to always be in office.

He said his administration is working towards leaving a good legacy and exploring various areas of improving the revenue base of the Local Government to enable him carry impactful projects, stressing that he had hit the ground running by reconnecting the Council Secretariat to the National Grid, just a few days after his assumption of office as he had met the council in darkness.

Comrade Abdullahi stated that he is living up to his words as he had been touching lives, with welfare schemes being introduced in the council for the first time under his leadership like he promised union leaders at a meeting upon his assumption of office.

He said the raise in staff morale is also partly due to the fulfilment of the promise by Governor Ahmed Ododo to improve on the salary of Local Government Staff which has seen the council staffers always beaming with smiles and enthusiasm in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Chairman stressed that his leadership of the Local Government wants to leave behind a legacy of service and dedication in critical sectors, especially in education and health, which he is making collaborative efforts with the State government to staff and make necessary impact on the rural dwellers.

Comrade Abdullahi used the occasion to thank the Governor for giving him the necessary attention whenever he approached him with requests and restated his determination to make the difference in the affairs of Lokoja Local Government Area.

On Security, the chairman said he is working closely with both formal security agencies, vigilante groups and hunters in all parts of the council to address the challenges being faced.

He used the occasion to reveal that his security measures are yielding results, especially the arrest of suspected criminals who specialize in stealing of phones belonging to students and other residents of Felele Community, with one of the suspects confessing to having stolen over 30 assorted smart phones.

The chairman therefore assured the people of his commitment to making every part of the Local Government safe for residents and citizens, and enjoined them to always give credible information to security agencies where they see suspicious movements and actions.
