Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and disjointed write up singed by one Joshua Dada for an unknown youth groups called Okun Youths for Good Governance published in an online medium orchestrated to malign and rubbish the glittering image of the person and office of Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole, the Honourable Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly by a youth groups hired to do a hatchet job by some individuals.

We would not have bothered to respond to the press release but to put the record straight and keep the unsuspected reading public abreast of the situations, we emphatically state that the sponsors are pained by the rising profile of Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole being the first representative from the constituency to secure a second term with an overwhelmingly win on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

They are also astonished to see the speed at which the All Progressive Congress APC as a party is gaining popularity in the constituency whereby men of goodwill are jetting out of their failed party to join our great party, hence the resort to blackmails and insults.

They have seen men of timber and caliber the performances and personality of Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole is attracting to the party and they could no longer help their sinking ship. Rather than selling their candidates and party manifesto to the electorate, they have recruited unknown youth groups to be releasing disjointed press releases.

It will be recalled that the successful carnival and road show staged in honor of GYB/CEDO 2019 on Saturday, 21st September, 2019 proudly sponsored by Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole, member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency and Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly has boosted the acceptance and popularity of APC and its candidates in not only Kabba/Bunu but the entire western senatorial district in the run up to the forthcoming governorship election.

The sponsors of the write up are oblivious of the fact that the carnival and road show is just one of the strategies put in place to create awareness and also sensitize the electorate in the state to support and vote APC come November 16 governorship election.

The Speaker as the leader of Kogi West Senatorial District, has the responsibility to organize many such programs that will entice the public to the party. To say he is out to impress his paymaster is nothing but a fallacy.

The Sponsors has also failed to realize that the current administration led by Governor Yahaya Bello is more Okun than any of them considering the patronage the Okun people have gotten under his government. For record purposes, this will be the first time, a Governor of Kogi State will recognize 9 federal constituencies in the state where by Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu is currently occupying the Speakership seat, while Yagba is the SSG, Lokoja/Koto having the Federal Minister position, aside from the fact that a multi billion naira project has been completed in Omi; the Rice Mill. Where is the betrayal?

It is on record that the Kogi State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole has passed over 60 bills in less than three years in office, prominent among which is the Youth Commission Bill passed and assented to by the Governor. This law has created opportunities for the younger generation in the state to pursue their chosen careers. Positing that the Speaker has failed in his responsibility is also a big lie.

The Speaker as the leader of Kogi West Senatorial District enjoys the support and cooperation of the party members across his jurisdiction, hence that of Kabba/Bunu is much intact. The sponsors are also bereft of ideas since they are not members of our great party APC, they can’t understand the workings of the party.

However, it is crystal clear that some fellows will bury their heads in shame when APC/ GYB/CEDO is declared the winner of the November 16 Governorship Election in an overwhelming victory.

Signed:

Femi Olugbemi,
Chief Press Secretary to the Honourable Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly
