John Paul of Operation Win Back Kogi State, as claimed, has in his opinion eulogised his vision. To start with, who is Paul winning Kogi back from, and to be given to who? The idea that people can not associate and belong to where they choose is not the best for our democracy.
I read carefully, a very eloquent write up from an Igala brother. In the end, when conscience asked me to describe it, I saw Paul’s eloquence as a beautiful nonsense.
Paul in all his analysis blasted Echocho for being on the stage with Yahaya Bello, his character was assassinated just for that. How on earth can we clean up the landmark achievements of Jibrin Isah Echocho, who do we have today that has done more that Echocho in terms of human capital development, what are the criteria for becoming a Senator that Echocho has not met, who are those; in their wisdom who sees Echocho not to have  met  “the character and the hovering vision of a new society of fairness, equity and justice” as caped by Paul. Are these people speaking for us? I think Paul misfired. When such a beautiful pen dropped, one expect issues to be raised concerning the candidate’s qualification to contest, his ability to deliver, his antecedence etc and not which political party or association he belongs to.
Let’s go back on the memory lane, in case Paul has forgotten shortly, this same Jibrin Isah Echocho is the same person who contested for a governorship ticket and won before it was hijacked for Wada as it pleases the then Governor Ibrahim Idris, so how possible will you see the same person as a man who can not finance a Senatorial campaign. Instead of raising vital issues, Paul chooses to pull his trigger on falsehood. How can you say Echocho campaign is being funded by state government without a single proof? Should we throw away the baby with the bath water, the bath bucket, towel and even soap? Should we use Yahaya Bello to judge Echocho?. Certainly that’s not the kind of politics that we are in for.
On the issue of our leader Prince Audu of blessed memory, I think Paul shows no respect for Audu. The prince of Niger until death has seen Echocho as a political god son, who will step into his shoes anytime.
Please do not forget, Echocho lost his first ticked to govern our state because; even while he was in PDP his smooth romance with his leader was very crystal. A situation that PDP and Governor Ibro saw as threatening. The same man after two attempt left the PDP to support Prince Audu as at the time all Kogites resolved to bring our hero back to government.
Echocho spent his hard earned resources like many of us to campaign vigorously for Prince Audu reelection. As at that time, those whom Paul sees today as representing the character of Justice, equity and fairness were either in the  hiding or working against Audu’s (Igala’s) ambition. So positing that Echocho must have betrayed Audu on his choice to remain as a loyal party man is an abysmally poor conclusion.
Prince Audu’s blessings remain with Jibrin on his choice and Audu real supporters like me are with him in his decision to represent us in the red chamber.
I may never want to be quoted as speaking on behalf of Gov Yahaya Bello, who has thousands of aids; but I think our people, the Igala people must learn to respect history and accord the needed blame to our sons who have the opportunity to lead the state and how the eventually ruled us. If Governor Ibro and Wada both of  whom I once tagged as double tragedy did what they were supposed to would have done, the question of bringing back Audu after 13yrs would not have even arise. I want the writer to continue in his quest through writing; to better the lots of us, who believe in Kogi project but would never support any sectional view on the governance of Kogi people. I don’t think the Igalas are thinking of reclaiming Kogi state, what we have as an agenda and very clear is that, what we have had from Ibro till date; lacks the vision of the kind of government that our people needed, and we will do the right thing when the time comes. We would no longer be brain washed into sectional issues.
We will support the candidates that can better the lives of the people which I think Echocho is a fit in that direction not withstanding his political party or political friends.
On issue of candidates qualification I raised earlier, Echocho is a 1st class graduate of Economics, he has worked as one of the most experienced banker at the top level, he has empowered so many people with employment while the opportunity lasted, he has helped students of different ages to attain their goal etc I expect anyone criticising him to say; no he did not graduate with first class honours, no he did not empower anyone, no he was not a successful banker etc anything short of that is just a figment of the writers imagination.
We can call Echocho a devil, but at least we know him.
I do not know if Echocho is the best, but I do not also know one of those contesting better that him at the moment.
