Ramadan: Support the Needy, Orphans and Widows – Danjuma Oando

Honourable Musa Idris Danjuma (Oando) has called on Muslims to observe the fasting month of Ramadan by supporting the needy, orphans and the less fortunate.
In a remark made at the pre-Ramadan lecture of Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnah, the Special Adviser on Water Resources to Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello urged the faithful to show warm affection, genuine love and to be hospitable to one another and to non-Muslims alike during and after the month.
“Today, there is an unfathomable amount of persons living in starvation and hunger who are living in abject poverty with very little means to overcome the misery they are living in. At the same time, there are greater number of wealthy Muslims.
“It is the duty of those who are fortunate in terms of material wealth to help the less privileged, instead of wasting that God given resources on luxuries and forbidden things,” he said.
He stressed that the month of Ramadan teaches us how it feels to be poor and hungry.
“Many sayings of the Prophet (SAW) expound the philosophy and wisdom behind fasting apart from Taqwa and discipline Ramadan inculcate, it is also a blessing from the Almighty so that one becomes aware of the hardships of the poor and needy.
“Whatever is with us in this world is perishable and whatever we give as charity goes to Allah as a form of reward awaiting us. Whatever is with Allah is permanent and forever.”
The Assembly aspirant used the occasion to extend Ramadan greetings to the people of Ankpa II Constituency and enjoined them to worship Allah with fervent prayers as Allah alone is the only sustenance.
