The Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, has said the Jonathan’s administration had ensured infrastructural and human capital development in the state.
The Governor who spoke in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital during the Peoples Democratic Party’s women campaign rally on Tuesday.
Capt. Wada said the Jonathan’s administration had awarded contract for the rehabilitation of the Obajana-Kabba- Ilorin Road, which he said, had been abandoned in the last 20 years.
The Governor described the turn out of Kogi women at the rally as an expression of love for President Jonathan, urged them to express the love by voting overwhelmingly for President Jonathan and all PDP candidates in the forth coming elections.
In her remarks, Wife of President and First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, called on Nigerians to vote for her husband, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The President’s wife stated that women deserved to be given due recognition and opportunities and should not be relegated to the background.
She said Jonathan’s administration had given women more opportunities to actualise their dreams and showcase their potential.
Mrs. Jonathan said her husband’s administration had offered women great opportunities to be part of decision making in national governance.
She added that Nigerian women had also been empowered and provided jobs through the agricultural revolution and other Federal Government’s initiatives and interventions.
She called on the electorate to re-elect Jonathan, noting that the introduction of You-Win and the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme had created many jobs for the unemployed youths.
She said, “This administration identified and reckoned with women. Women were empowered; they were given opportunities to serve the nation and they performed creditably well to the admiration of the people.”
”Jonathan looked at us and said women, I am giving you the position of the chief justice of this country. Okonjo-Iweala is a woman, Diezani is a woman. Seventy percent of his cabinet are women. He also gave us the opportunity to start enrolling for the regular combatant course at the NDA (Nigerian Defence Academy). “
”He wants continuity because he has vowed to do more. He places Nigerians in his mind and if he says he will do this, he will do it. So what are we looking for? If we women of Nigeria don’t appreciate Goodluck and we are looking for bus conductor, it is left for us”.
”Remember that your vote is your power and it is good to vote wisely. Those of you that do not have PVC should endeavour to collect it because all these things you are doing is meaningless without PVC.”
