A new political chapter is set to unfold in Kogi East as Idris Husseini Kashim, popularly known as Idris HK, prepares for his official declaration to contest the Kogi East Senatorial seat under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The much-anticipated event is scheduled to hold on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the PDP Secretariat in Sabongari, Idah, drawing political stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters from across the senatorial district.

Idris HK, a businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Crush Cafe Gwarinpa, is entering the race with a message centered on inclusiveness, grassroots engagement, and people-oriented governance. His declaration is expected to formally signal his intention to represent the diverse communities of Kogi East at the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking ahead of the event, the aspirant expressed optimism about his candidacy and vision for the region.

“It is with great pleasure that I formally announce my candidacy for the Senate to serve as the representative of the people of Kogi East Senatorial District,” he said. “My objective is to narrow the divide between elected officials and their constituents, thereby fostering a more promising future for our populace and region. With your support, if we become victorious, progress is promised.”

Beyond his political ambition, Idris HK has built a reputation for philanthropy across the nine Local Government Areas that make up Kogi East. Community leaders and beneficiaries attest to his consistent support in areas such as youth empowerment, educational assistance, and humanitarian relief. From sponsoring students’ education to providing financial aid for small-scale businesses and supporting widows and vulnerable groups, his outreach has cut across communities in Olamaboro, Dekina, Ankpa, Ofu , Idah and beyond.

Residents in the district say his philanthropic footprint has created a strong grassroots connection that could shape the dynamics of the senatorial race. Political analysts also note that his entry into the contest adds a fresh dimension to the PDP’s strategy in reclaiming influence in Kogi East.

As anticipation builds toward Sunday’s declaration, supporters are already mobilizing across the district, describing his candidacy as a blend of private-sector experience and community-driven leadership. With the slogan “Progress Promised,” Idris HK appears poised to frame his campaign around bridging governance gaps and delivering tangible development to the people of Kogi East.
