Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has assured students of the institution of his avowed commitment to their welfare.
Prof Salisu gave the assurance at the inauguration of newly elected executives of the Students Union Government (SUG) and National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) held at the institution’s Lokoja campus on Monday.
He commended the electoral committee for the smooth process, having heeded to his warning against imposition and external influence.
He urged the new executives to shun ethnic sentiments but adhere to principles of good governance.

He cautioned the students against being used by mischief makers within and outside the institution, urging the students and new executives to be vigilant so as not to be misled.
While noting that the election that ushered in the executive is the fourth in a row under his administration, Prof Salisu assured that his administration will continue to make students’ welfare and well-being a priority.
Oluwadamilola Enimokanyi Janet emerged the SUG President while Abubakar Isah Sheriff emerged the NAKOSS President for the 2024/2024 academic session.
In her speech, the new SUG President, Janet, expressed appreciation to her co-contestant for his show of sportsmanship.
She solicited for unity of purpose of members and charged the students to show more of resilience.
Janet promised to make students’ welfare, fight against sexual harassment and improved academic pursuit her priorities.
She admonished the students to be good ambassadors of the Polytechnic.
The NAKOSS President, Abubakar Isah Sheriff said his administration is committed to ensuring that voice of every student is heard.
Director, Legal Services of the Polytechnic, Barr Williams Ameh, performed the oath taking ceremony for both the SUG and NAKOSS Executives.
