Presidential Committee to Build Houses for Flood Victims in Kogi and 21 Other States

The Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation (PCFRR) has concluded arrangements to build new houses to replace the ones swept away by the flood.

The committee co-chaired by business mogul Aliko Dangote and frontline lawyer Olisa Agbakoba in a statement said it has called on reputable companies to bid for building of houses as well as provision of essential amenities in Kogi and 21 other affected states.
The PCFRR secretariat has now become a beehive of activities as contractors throng the premises to submit their bids.
The states are Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Bauchi, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara,  Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Rivers and Taraba.
Apart from the houses, the PCFRR also called for companies to bid for the provision of potable water in the affected states.
The statement also said the scope of work includes construction of units of 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom flats in the affected states as well as construction of community centres.
The project includes procurement and installation of mobile solar powered packaged water treatment plant and mobile generator powered water treatment plant, procurement and installation of solar powered hand pumps and rehabilitation of existing boreholes.
The 34-man committee targeting N100 billion, held a fund-raising dinner at the Presidential Villa during which donations and pledges made by prominent Nigerians, amounted to N11.35 billion.
