A political campaign movement, The Big Tent, has assured Nigerians that a Peter Obi presidency will take the nation out of doldrums.

Speaking after a strategic meeting in Abuja on Sunday, Kogi state coordinator of Big Tent, Dr. Sunday Bala Oma, congratulated the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti for their impending victory at the poll on Saturday.

Sunday Bala said other presidential candidates are in the race just to make up the number.

His FCT counterpart, Comrade Peter Edu, reiterated Sunday Bala’s position, adding that they have both resolved to work together to cement the victory awaiting Mr Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed.

Edu said the meeting forged synergy between Kogi state and FCT to ensure Labour Party faithfuls in both states are adequately sensitized and enlightened on how to vote and ensure their votes count.

“Also, we resolved to synergize in the area of ensuring security personnel are properly manned in every nook and cranny of our states to forestall any unforeseen circumstance,” he added.

While commending the security agencies for playing neutral roles during the campaign period, they both frowned at recent pockets of violence in Lagos and Kogi states.

“We condemn the incidences where thugs of the ruling opposition party were seen unleashing mayhem on innocent Obidient supporters at Emewe Opada in Dekina local government council of Kogi state. Labour Party members were mercilessly beaten to stupor.

“We calle on the Inspector General of Police to ensure no stone is left unattended to, so the masses can freely exercise their God given alienable rights to vote and be voted for.”

Furthermore, they both commended the Ministry of Education for declaring two weeks holiday so the students, who have the bulk of votes and have not hid their support for their principal, Mr Peter Obi, can return home to exercise their franchise.

They thanked several Student Union Government Executives as well as ASUU and ASUP leadership for the roles they are playing at voter’s sensitization across the country.

They both assured the students and lecturers that with the emergence of Mr Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti, their several challenges will be nipped in the board on assuming office.

In addition, the two leaders thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) latest policy on currency swap took effect at the best time in the nation’s history.

“This singular act will reduce to the barest minimum, the use of funds to buy votes after using poverty to enslave the masses. Those crying foul are the real enemies of Nigeria.”

They admonished Nigerians to beware of their enemies, as they moved to the polls to cast their votes. They both advised Nigerians to embrace this policy and disregard those unscrupulous so called leaders, who are trying to create anarchy with their opposing policies, where there is none.

They concluded the session by debunking the fictitious numbers being spread in the media by persons allegedly “sponsored by APC and PDP money bags, who will not stop at anything to demean and send wrong signals, either about the Labour Party or Mr Peter Obi.”

“To set the records straight, INEC’s official release on Agents submitted by the Labour Party is 134, 874. While that of ADC, who just declared their full support for Mr Peter Obi is 96, 034. This sums up Labour Party’s Agents to 230,908 thereby, surpassing INEC’s total number of Polling Agents of 176,974 and making that of APC and PDP insignificant.”

They called on all lovers of democracy to ignore such falsehood as those two opposition parties will stop at nothing to ensure they confuse the already enlightened masses, for their selfish interest.

Amongst the entourage of both leaders were the Secretary of Big Tent Kogi State Coordinating Council Mayam Yohanna, and her FCT counterpart, Alice Akpan.
