In a bid to improve the supply of electricity and boost economic activities in urban and rural areas in Kogi State, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has said that it has commissioned three 33KV feeders at the Ajaokuta 132/33KV Transmission Sub-station.

The Director, Transmission Service Provider, Engineer Thomas Uwah, in a statement signed by the Manager, Public Affairs, Elder Rufus Imafidon, said that the three feeder bays, which were designed and built in-house by a team of engineers from the Ajaokuta work centre cost a total of 60 million naira.

Uwah, who was represented by the General Manager, Benin Region, Engineer Isaac Okpe, said, “The three communities namely Steel industry and environs, West African ceramic factory, Adogo/Eganyi are now benefiting from the newly installed feeders located at 132/33 sub-station in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

“The three 33KV feeders will transform the socio-economic development of these communities in Kogi State.”

The head of the team, Engineer Olawale Balogun, explained that the work centre had only two feeder as of 2011.

He said, “Lokoja and Anyigba feeders were the only feeders on ground. However, today, Chinese Steel Company, West African Ceramic Company Limited and Adogo/Eganyi community have been added, thus, bringing it to a total of five feeders being radiated from Ajaokuta 132/33KV transmission sub-station.”

Meanwhile, the transmission company has attributed the loss of power supply to Nekpenkpen, Ikpoba Dam and Koko feeders to a two-metre snake which caused the transformer to trip at about 1am on Friday.

It, however, noted in the statement, that normalcy had been restored to the affected areas.
