Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Rashida Bello, has promised to support the Nigeria Police Officers Wives Association (POWA).
She made this known during the empowerment programme organised for police women and wives of officers by POWA President, Hajara Usman Alkali Baba in Lokoja on Saturday.
Mrs Bello assured POWA President that she will take good care of officers’ wives.
While making cash donations to POWA at the event, the Kogi First Lady promised to continue to key into the association’s plans to make life more beautiful for the women.
Mrs Bello said the present administration in Kogi State has continued to empower women just as she lauded POWA for their unflinching support in nation building.
Addressing wives of serving police officers in Lokoja, the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Hajara Usman Alkali Baba said the welfare of officers and their relations remains a top priority under the leadership of her husband in the Police Force.
She stated that the Nigeria Police Force will always be at the forefront to strengthen the unity of the country, adding that the sacrifices of serving and retired police officers will always be rewarded.
POWA President’s maiden visit to Kogi was part of her nationwide tour of states in the country. No fewer than 100 wives of police officers were empowered.
Some of the items distributed by the IGP’s wife included sewing machines, gas cylinders, grinding machines, noodles, amongst other essential commodities.
Hajia Alkali Baba urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and admonished them to be faithful to their husbands, adding that police officers’ wives should be productive, active and not passive in the discharge of their duties.
