The Kogi State Government says it will strive through sustainable poverty alleviation program, do all it can to ensure that its youth unemployment profile is drastically reduced.
Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor, stated this at the official presentation of KEKEP NAPEP Tricycles to youths across the state as part of the state government’s efforts and measures to engage youths positively and poverty reduction.
The Governor who was represented at the presentation ceremony by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said the gesture to empower youths with the tricycles was to complement other government activities on youth and women empowerment that has helped in the reduction of poverty.
Aside programmes on capacity building geared towards assisting youths and women development and to become self reliant, the administration, the governor noted has continued to give youth and women empowerment front line attention to help create jobs.
The governor appealed to the beneficiaries of the tricycles to make good use of the tricycles for positive empowerment channels, expanding their business as well as engaging them positively.
The governor assured of a sustained efforts in its youths employment policy that is top on its transformation agenda.
The governor commended youths of the state for their peaceful disposition before, during and after the last week’s general election, urging them to remain peaceful and law abiding.
Earlier in his remarks, Engr Sunday Abutu, Special Adviser on poverty reduction, said the tricycles is to be distributed to youths across communities across the state, commended the efforts to make the youths gainfully engaged as worthwhile.
In his remarks, Isah Olorunfemi, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the state government for the gesture to empower them, promised to use the tricycles for the purposes it is meant for.
