Political Crisis in Ebiraland: Forum Lauds Gov. Bello’s Quick Intervention

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has been commended for the proactive measures taken in addressing resurgence of political crises in Ebiraland.
A group of elders, under the aegis of Okovi-Agada-Adeehi Forum, gave the commendation on Friday during a courtesy call to the Special Adviser to the Governor in charge of Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Ohere in his office in Lokoja.
The Chairman of the Forum, Daudu Nasiru Soso praised Gov. Bello for sending a high powered delegation, led by Ohere, to Ebiraland over the weekend on a fact finding and peace making mission.
That frantic and dispassionate move according to him, has further reechoed Governor Bello’s commitment to sustenance of peace and unity in the state. He prayed for consolidation on the peace initiative to ensure a total burial of the menace.
He extolled the Governor’s outstanding achievement in terms of securing the lives and properties of Kogi Citizens, referencing the recent rescue of Alh. Momohjimoh Otinawu (aka Always) by the Army owing to the security apparatus put in place by the Governor.
The District Head of Okengwe, Alh. Muhammed Anaje, in his contribution, gave a resounding reassurance of Ebira people’s unflinching support for the government of their Governor Bello. He urged the Governor to continue to toe the path of righteousness, be steadfast and focused and avoid being distracted from the set out goals.
Also speaking was, Alh. Murtala Inakakana, the District Head of Okene, bemoaned the rate at which youths engage in substance abuse which he ascribed to laziness and idleness. He urged the state government to put adequate control measures in place to nip the ugly trend in the bud.
Engr. Ohere commended the elders for the courtesy visit. He reiterated Governor Bello’s untiring dedication to a united Ebiraland and Kogi State. He stated that the Governor’s commitment was the reason he immediately sent down the peace delegation to allay fears and soothe all fray nerves in the altercation with victims duly compensated and arrests made.
“Alh. Yahaya Bello is a perfect, well refined gentleman whose watchword is peace. He has no history of political violence and will not condone it in any part of the state under his very watch,” he said.
He implored the elders to use their good positions as fathers, leaders and opinion moulders to further sensitize the overzealous youths and party loyalists in the grassroots to operate within the ambit of the law and not allow themselves to be used as machineries of unleashing mayhem in the community under political or clannish disguise.
He revealed the Governor’s day to day endeavours to woo investors into the state to ensure rapid infrastructural and human development thereby boosting the economy of the state and the country at large.
According to the Forum’s secretary, Mr. Mamman Aminu, the aims and objectives of the forum is to ensure stability of peace and tranquility around Okene and it’s environs being the commercial nerve center of Kogi State and political melting point of Ebiraland.
