Police Arrests Couple for Aiding Kidnappers in Kogi

Kogi state police command has arrested one Woli Apara and his wife for allegedly aiding and abetting kidnappers in Ogori/Magongo local government area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya, who disclosed this to newsmen on Friday said the couple were arrested for providing information to the kidnappers while his wife was also arrested for cooking for the kidnappers at their base in the bush.

Aya said a joint task force of police, vigilante and Army were drafted to the area and have successfully rescued all the victims, while Woli Apara and his wife have been arrested and providing useful information to the police.

It was gathered that following bombardment of security agents on all flash points in western and eastern parts of the state, kidnappers shifted their base to Okene-Ogori/Magongogo and Ageva-Ogori areas in central axis of the state and have been terrorising unsuspecting public in the area in last two weeks.

The command said six people were kidnapped along Ageva/Ogori road in Ogori/Magongo local government area between March 12 and Wednesday the 19th alone before the perpetrators shifted base to Okene axis.

It explained that a woman and her daughter were abducted along Akpafa Magongo highway on 12th March when the taxi which they were traveling in was intercepted on their way to Akpafa local government area amongst others.
