Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths in have accused Kogi state government of paying lip service to security of lives and properties in the state.

In a press statement signed by Comrade Usman Austin Okai, the youths challenged the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to pay more attention to the incessant kidnapping, killings and armed robbery that has become prevalent in the last one year.

Okai tasked the government to do anything humanly possible to ensure the release of the kidnapped spiritual leader and Chief Imam of Enabo Mosque in Ankpa without further delay. The Imam was kidnapped  in the mosque this morning.
Okai decried the misplaced priorities of ‎the state government and dissipation of needless energy into political issues at the expense of its primary roles of securing lives and properties of Kogites which he swore to uphold.

“It is long overdue to declare state of emergency in Kogi state on security related issues as spate of crimes and high level insecurity has since surpassed what is obtainable in the Niger Delta and North East”, he said
“Because of denial of social, basic and legitimate earnings, breakdown of law and order along with high level insecurity have become the other of the day ‎with innocent people taking the lead of the victims. It is a wonder of the century that Kogi Governor was given a ridiculous award by the Inspector General of Police as best governor in Nigeria in terms of security”
He said kidnapping has become the booming trade in Kogi owing to government insincerity.
