…defectors Will Come Back To PDP

Former governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, has said that Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would win the March 28 presidential election despite propaganda to the contrary by the opposition.

Idris spoke, yesterday, at the Lugard House, Lokoja, while answering questions from journalists shortly after submitting the PDP Elders Advisory council report to his successor, Idris Wada.

He said: “Naturally, there should be an opposition, and we expect that the opposition should do their best.

“But PDP is still on at the top and there is no doubt about that. We have had this kind of opposition in the past which claimed that they were going to sweep every position during elections, but at the end, PDP still carried the day.”

Idris, who is the chairman of the Elders Advisory Council, said the body was organized to chart the way forward and reconcile aggrieved members of the party.

He dispelled rumour of his plan to decamp to opposition party, adding that he was still a member of PDP.

Idris also restated his commitment to ensuring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not only win all its elections but will also wax stronger in the state.

Alhaji Idris stressed that those who defected from PDP would certainly come back due to the hunger they are experiencing outside the party.

He warned people of the state against any acts of violence during the elections, saying development can thrive only in a peaceful environment.
