The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of planning to rig the April 28 House of Assembly rerun election in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by its Chairman,  Hussein Balogun and Secretary, Suleman Saeed, the party said the state government had taken undue interest in the area and was determined to deliver it to the PDP at all cost.

It said there are 80 polling units in Ajaokuta state constituency, and that elections were held in 73 polling units while seven were declared inconclusive due to violence.

“They wanted to rig the election, because they knew they were at a disadvantaged position,” he said.

The party officials warned that any attempt to force security operatives or coerce INEC to rig the re-run in favour of the PDP, will cause crisis in the area.

They called on party supporters to be steadfast in their support to ensure that the constituency “is returned to the part of progress and development.”
