In adherence to the decision of the National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Kogi State chapter of the party yesterday conducted its primary election to get its candidate for the December 3, 2011 gubernatorial election.

A national newspaper reported last week that one of the PDP aspirants (generally believed to be Kutepa) has reserved One Million Naira and a Golf car for each delegate. This, though unrealistic, was widely believed because the same aspirant doled out 500,000 Naira each to over 300 delegates in the cancelled January primaries.

In the build-up to yesterday’s primaries, Kutepa got the backing of multi-billionaire business, Bashorun Jide Omokore, who was rumoured to have set aside One Billion Naira to prosecute the Kutepa Project.

As the primaries commenced yesterday, we confirmed that Kutepa was not giving out I million Naira as reported, neither was he giving out cars to delegates. Findings showed that he gave delegates 500,000 Naira each.

The governor, Alhaji Idris, who was hell bent on imposing his in-law, Captain Idris Wada, as the PDP flagbearer did not leave anything to chance. Idris reportedly match Kutepa cash for cash as he gave delegates 600,000 Naira each.

The governor was rewarded for this as his in-law won in a landslide.
