The national leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), last week, announced that a fresh primary will hold in Kogi State on September 27  to elect the party’s flagbearer.

The out-going governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, is said to be a confused man at the moment. He supported Alhaji Isah Echocho in the nullified January primaries but is now rooting for one of his commissioners, Professor Aaron Baba.

The choice of Aaron Baba is not unconnected with the clamour for power shift in Kogi East. The Dekina zone is the only zone in the east that has not produced a governor and their demand for power shift to Dekina is strong. Both Echocho and Aaron Baba are from Dekina.

It was however speculated in some quarters that the outgoing governor is also making frantic effort to bring on board an in-law, Capt. Idris Wada.

When asked by pressmen, he said he is ‘neutral’ and will be happy with whomever emerge as the party’s candidate.
