The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said there is no iota of truth in reports carried by a section of the media that the Governor of Kogi state, Idris Wada was ‘kept waiting for hours’ during his visit to the national secretariat of the party on Thursday.

A statement Saturday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh said the report was totally false and mischievous.

He said Governor Wada arrived the national secretariat some minutes ahead of the Acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and was with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) before the arrival of the Acting National Chairman.

“Soon after, the governor and his entourage met with the Acting National Chairman and had very useful discussions. The governor threw more light on the congresses held in his state and the composition of the state local organizing committee. The National Working Committee, at the end of the meeting resolved to look into the issues raised and take appropriate decision on them,” Metuh explained.

He also assures that NWC holds Governor Wada in very high esteem as the leader of the party in Kogi state; “a humble and brilliant administrator who has continued to discharge his duties with great candor and commitment.”

“However, the National Working Committee restates for emphasis that it is strictly focused on ensuring a transparent and all-inclusive process that would guarantee a level playing ground for all members of the party in the state in line with the PDP constitution,” he adde.

According to Metuh, the NWC urges the media to ensure that they always crosscheck their facts before going to press.
