PDP, APC, 15 Others Sign Peace Accord in Kogi

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressive Congress, APC, along with 15 other political parties, yesterday, in Lokoja signed a peace accord to ensure free, fair, and violence-free general elections in the state.

The peace pact which was organised by the state chapter of the Inter Party Accord Committee, IPAC, also saw candidates for various political parties signing the document at the state police headquarters in Lokoja.

Speaking on the occasion, the state Police Commissioner, Adeyemi Ogunjemulusi said the peace accord would further cement peace in the state before, during and after the elections.

Ogunjemulisi, who urged the parties and their candidates to imbibe spirit of free, fair, credible and non-violent elections cautioned them against engaging masquerades in their campaign trains.

“The police shall provide a level playing ground for all parties and their candidates. We also admonish all parties not to use masquerades during the election period. Any masquerade which perpetuates violence will be arrested and prosecuted.”
