Honourable Patrick Danjuma Onogu is a household name in the grassroot politics of Igala Mela/Odolu local government and Kogi state with a lot of potentials readily available to harness to the political advantage of the area.
Honourable Patrick Danjuma Onogu’s few years of service as the Administrator of the area under APC could be likened to the good old days of late Hon Augustine Isa Idakwo; when the welfare of workers, social upliftment and development of the people was highly prioritised.
Cool, calm and with high level mien, Onogu’s decision to join politics was devoid of the usual way of ‘business as usual’ as he was able to tackle the security challenges of the highly volatile area that returned the much desired peace to the area that was notorious for criminal elements. This was in line with the new direction policies and programs of the state administration, under Governor Yahaya Bello led All Progressives Congress (APC).
With a grassroot support and ardent people oriented administration, Onogu’s stint at the helms of affairs in the local government was a period of transformation in all ramifications to the betterment of the people. He ensured functional rural health care facilities in the council, to give adequate attention to the rural areas by addressing the plight of medical workers at all levels, including given special attention to medical doctors posted to the general hospital and other clinics to facilitate their jobs.
In the period under review, funding of primary school through uninterrupted payment of their salaries was at the front burner, as education was one of the cardinal objectives of his administration.
Hon Onogu opened up the rural roads to assist movement within the localities, as well as products of farmers get to their destinations without hitches.
He provided an enabling environment and encourage local government staff to be alive to their responsibilities, and ensured that payment of their salaries after due enumeration was honoured as at when due.
As a focused administrator, he laid a solid foundation for the rapid socio-economic and infrastructural as well as political development of the area, given the needed cooperation by the people and government assistance at the state level.
Onogu’s all round development as an administrator had been a major source of desire to vie for the elective position as local government chairman so as to continue to sustain his developmental efforts to the area.
No doubt, all hands are on deck in support of his return as elected Chairman of Igala Mela/ Odolu local government area so as to take the council to the promise land.
