Parents of deaf and dumb who was raped and impregnated by unidentified persons has cried to the Kogi state Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello and Security agencies to arrest the perpetrators of the crime and also render assistance for her safe delivery.
Father of the imbecile, Ebenezer Bamidele,77 , a retired caterpillar driver made the appeal in Lokoja on Thursday amid sobbing that her daughter Titilayo ,31,who is now due to be delivered of a baby could not identify who put her in the family way because of her condition.
Bamidele said since Titilayo was born in 1988 with the challenges, the family has been keeping watch on her as it became clear that she could not do anything by herself.
“And now that this has happened we need help and we hereby appeal to the Kogi State governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to come to our aid to fish out the culprit and mete out necessary punishment. We also appeal for financial assistance to take care of her because she is incapacitated and unfortunately she is impregnated by an unknown rapist.” He explained.
He said Titilayo’s mother has been bathing and dressing her since she was born but her problems became worse with her maturity stressing that she has to combine putting eyes on her against some randy men.
According to him, there was no need to send Titilayo to school due to her condition.
Rachael, mother of the victim who is a cleaner in the church close to their Ajara quarters opposite the Jakura Marble Industry in Lokoja cursed the man who could not pity her but went so low to have carnal knowledge of the innocent girl.
According to her on noticing strange signs and features on her daughter she tried to find out what happened to her, but could not get any answer and she has to rush Titilayo to the Federal Medical Center Lokoja for pregnancy test which proved positive and she immediately enroll her for antenatal care in the hospital.
Mrs Bilkisu Muhammed who lived in the neighborhood attested to the fact that Titilayo has never been seen with anyone either outside or in the compound. “Look at her condition, I don’t think any person in his full senses will come and toast her. I know the family very well. The mother is a good woman. Please let government assist them.”
She lamented at the man who impregnated her for degrading himself to the level of engaging in having sexual intercourse with Titilayo even when he is aware of her conditions.
