Oworo Foundation Holds Colloquium July 30

The Oworo Foundation, a group of professionals, academics, bureaucrats, business owners and others from all works of life has scheduled to hold her colloquium with the overall theme, “Reawakening Oworoland:The Imperatives for Socio-Cultural, Political and Economic Empowerment’ in Lokoja, Kogi State on 30th and 31st July, 2021.

This was contained in a statement by her Executive Secretary, Kolade Umoru.

Oworo is strategically located around the conference of Rivers Niger and Benue.

The colloquium, the first of its kind in the history of Oworoland has been designed to involve every strata of Oworoland and will be featuring papers around five thematic areas by experienced Oworo sons and daughters at home and abroad, cultural displays, launching of a website, exhibition of investment potentials of Oworoland and a closing dinner.

Keynote address will be delivered by a seasoned academia, Professor Etannibi Alemika. Alemika is a professor of multiple competencies with a B.Sc. Sociology from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria) and M.S. and Ph.D. Criminology from the Department of Social System Sciences, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (USA).

He is a Professor of Criminology and Sociology of Law at the University of Jos, Nigeria. His areas of competence, research and teaching include policing, organised crime, security sector reform and governance, human rights and democracy, conflict studies, and criminal justice policy and reform.

Venue in Lokoja and date for the colloquium will be communicated later.

The Oworo Foundation as a group was registered in the year 2020 with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
