Osun Gov’ship: Yahaya Bello Congratulates Oyetola on Supreme Court Victory

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has congratulated Governor Isiaka Oyetola Of Osun State on the affirmation of his electoral victory by the Supreme Court, 5 July 2019.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed, Governor Bello described the Supreme Court judgement as victory for democracy and enjoined Governor Oyetola to extend hands of fellowship to his opponents and ensure that the state gets purposeful leadership.

“I have been at election tribunal down to the Supreme Court and can attest to the level of distraction a Governor and his administration face on account of some needless litigations, but a calm disposition, open-mindedness and inclusiveness towards everybody; including those who instituted litigations against you, is what defines a true leader”, Bello said.

He urged Governor Oyetola to build on the policies that have defined him as a good ambassador of the All Progressives Congress while sustaining the programmes and developmental agenda of his state in line with the party manifesto. 

He said after all the legal tussles, the lesson is to ensure that the citizens are repaid with good governance which is a prove  that their confidence in their leader were not misplaced.

Governor Bello noted that the ruling of the Supreme Court on the Osun state Governorship Election appeal will go a long way in restoring the confidence and hope of the Nigerian people on the sanctity of the judiciary as the last hope of the common man and lauded the highest court for standing strong in the defence of the law and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Bello thanked the people of Osun State for standing behind their governor and listening to his call for calm and patience all through the duration of the legal journey from Tribunal, Appeal and to Supreme Court and urged the citizens to set aside political differences in the interest of the development of the state.
