Just a week after resuming office as the Senior Special Adviser on Security Matters for Yagba West council area, Hon. Joseph Tade Oshaloto has restored electricity to Yagba West local government secretariat, Odo Ere.
The Area Office, Egbe, all local council offices and local government health centres across the council area have also benefited from Oshaloto’s ‘Operation Light Up Yagba West’ initiative.
According to Oshaloto, adequate power supply is critical to security management.
Most of these areas has been in total darkness for three years before the intervention of the newly elected SSA.
The local government council secretariat and all other LG offices and health centres is said to have been disconnected from power supply for about three years by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDCO) for failure of immediate past administrations to pay electricity bills.
Oshaloto, while meeting with leadership of NULGE and staff of IBEDC in his office on Wednesday, described the power outage as unfortunate. He said a situation where the entire lives of the local government is thrown into total darkness, and nothing tangible is done to change the narratives defies common sense.
He described civil servants as the soul of any administration, saying workers deserve the best and should be made to perform their duties in a better conducive environment which according to him enhances productivity and development.
The SSA pleaded with the electricity company to “tamper justice with mercy” by restoring power back to local government Secretariat and all other affected offices, assuring them of better customer relationship.
He promised to put the welfare and well-being of workers and the people of Yagba West far and above all consideration.
Barely two days after the intervention meeting, it has been confirmed that all offices disconnected has been reconnected with power restored to light up Yagba West.
