Oseni Extols New Obobanyi Ohionwa, Seeks Inclusion of Traditional Rulers’ Roles in Constitution

As Ohionwa clan in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State installed new Obobanyi of Ohionwa, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni has called for inclusion of traditional rulers’ roles in the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Senator Oseni made the call on Saturday in Oboroke-Ihima at the palace of the Obobanyi of Ohionwa, His Royal Highness, Dr Ahmed Jimoh Eneji who has just been coronated as the 13th Obobanyi of the clan.

The lawmaker who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime and member, Constitutional Review Committee maintained that for sustainable peace and security in the country, the roles of traditional rulers which were erroneously expunged from the 1999 constitution should be restored.

“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate the Ohionwa clan of Ihima for the successful coronation of their Obobanyi, Dr Ahmed Jimoh Eneji. He is a man of impeccable pedigree which spans decades in the academic sector. I pray that as you sit on the coveted throne of your ancestors today, your reign bring succour to the clan and Ihima in general,” he said.

Senator Oseni who used the opportunity to seek the support of the clan for the presidential ambition of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, charged the newly coronated monarch to complement the effort of the government in tackling insecurity in the state.

He prayed that Almighty God would grant the Obobanyi Ohionwa divine wisdom and health to steer the affairs of his clan people and beyond.
