Orokere Day: MD Eseyin Bags Chieftaincy Title, Seeks Kinsmen’s Support for Gov. Bello

The Special Adviser to Kogi Governor on Youth Empowerment, Sports and Students’ Affairs, Hon Deola Eseyin, was on Saturday conferred with a traditional chieftaincy title, “OLUOMO of OROKERE Land”, by HRH Oba Jacob Mejedi, the Ajugbonjagun of Orokere, Mopamuro Local Government Area, Kogi State.
The conferment of the chieftaincy title by the royal father and his Council of Chiefs, was part of the activities to mark the annual celebration of “Orokere Day”.
The monarch thanked all the dignitaries at the event particularly the political appointees of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who came to honour the day, urging them not to relent in their efforts to making Kogi a better state for all citizens.
The royal father noted that the chieftaincy title was borne out of the tremendous and outstanding performances of their son, Eseyin, towards the development of his community.
He eulogised the special adviser for his kind-hearted and good representation that has had positive impacts on his constituents, which has attracted the attention of the council of chiefs of Orokere land to honour him with the chieftaincy title.
The monarch expressed optimistim that Eseyin would continue to live by such an inspiring kind of lifestyle both within and outside our community, saying “A youth that washes his hands well, will be considered worthy to wine and dine with elders”.
Mejedi added that the awardees at event, had distinguished themselves positively by drawing necessary developmental opportunities which cut across all spheres; such as traditional and social institutions as well as humanitarian empowerment programnes among others.
In his remarks, Hon Eseyin, expressed gratitude to the royal father and the Council of Chiefs for finding him worthy to be honored with the great and well hallowed chieftaincy title, saying it would spur him to be more committed to selfless service to his people.
Eseyin appreciated the governor for his developmental projects in Mopamuro and in all Okun land at large, imploring his people to continue to support the New Direction Government led by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
He assured his people that he would  not stop doing what he knew to do best to facilitating development both for his community and for the state at large, emphasising on making sure that the best form of representation was given out.
Eseyin also thanked the governor for given him the opportunity to serve the state and his people fairly by the virtue of him being part of the present Administration led by a dynamic youthful governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
He, however, urged the royal father and his people to support programs and policies of the state government in order to keep attracting dividends of democracy to Orokere community.
Other dignitaries that were also honored with traditional chieftaincy titles at the event included: Hon. Taufiq Isa, the Kogi ALGON Chairman/Ijumu LGA Administrator, coronated as the Bashorun of Orokere Land; Hon. Asiwaju Idris, Kogi Commissioner for Finance, who was coronated as the Bobagunwa of Orokere Land.
On the sidelines of Orokere Day was the skills acquisition empowerment training by an NGO, Fountain Helpers Initiative (FHI), to train the girls on Makeups and other skills, with the presentation of award for the best outstanding participant
Mrs Agnes Agboola, the coordinator of FHI, expressed deep gratitude for the hard work displayed by everyone in supporting the intiative, saying people have shown to the world the highest professionalism and the greatest commitments to ensure that their project was successful.
“We are proud of you. Please keep up the spirit, as you can take comfort that Fountain Helpers Initiative will always be ready to support any community development projects in our own little way. We appreciate you all,” Agboola said.
Mr Moses Anjorin, the President of Orokere Welfare Association (OWA), the organiser of the event, thanked God for the success of the program and appreciated everyone who had contributed in one way or the other to make the event a remarkable one.
“We appreciate Hon. MD Eseyin, OLUOMO 1 of Orokere Land, Mrs Agnes Agboola  (Fountain Helpers Initiative) and everyone for there contributions in no small measure to assist the event. Government officials and His Excellency was not left out in the program.
“We urge those who made promises to hastily redeem their pledges,” Anjorin appealed.
The Orokere Day is a day that is set aside annually to bring together all the sons and daughters of Orokere community in Amuro to celebrate their uniqueness in terms of cultural heritage, peace &unity, socioeconomic resources and fund raising for infrastructural development in the community, among others.
