As the search begin for who will succeed Governor Yahaya Bello come 2019, the political parties may play lesser roles considering the fact that our political parties has been reduced to mere platforms due to lack of internal democracy and adherence to party ideologies.

Don’t be fooled by the empty promises of the same style of politicians. So many opportunists, who are more interested in self-aggrandizement than in fixing our problems, are all out there making noise. They are afraid of Bello and at the same time they are out to create confusion and distract us. We are yet to see any substantial, well thought-out plan to fix Kogi state problems.

Copycats of old plans but none of them have spelt out the specifics of how to achieve their goals and improve the lives of Kogians.

We get the type government we deserve. We must do our homework before the right time.

I insist the youths have to wake up this time around just to reposition Kogi state. We are no longer ready for any accidental Governor or Senator. From the State Assembly to the Lugard House, men of proven integrity must be looked out for. Some election traders are already out promising to create jobs and yet they can’t spell out how they intend to do so.

The owner of a private company and still unable to pay his own staffs want to succeed GYB, what an insult! Kogians need a man who will stand up for the little guy and he is not afraid to stick his neck out to do it. I believe the youths will this time around have to rally around the strongest candidate who have what it takes to lead the indebted state to Eldorado.

It is important that we do some real digging to find out as much about these candidates as we can and inform the citizens of Kogi state at appropriate time who will have to make a decision on a new governor come 2019. This is not time to carry anybody for head. This is to be expected as everyone decides on whom they are going to back and support for one political reason or another. I don’t have an axe to grind except to find out the truth and present it to my friends.

Our next governor must be a man that will work with anyone who sincerely wants to get this state moving again. We are looking for a man who will listen to any idea that is offered in good faith and intended to help solve our problems, not make them worse.

I was sincerely briefed that 800 Million Naira will be deducted monthly from the Kogi state monthly allocation for the bailout fund repayment. The huge debt that will linger on to the next administration. We have so many people sacked in the name of the ghost workers therefore the next man must get them back to work.

We’re no longer staring into the tribalism, religion dichotomy or how affluent a man is, we are to look ahead to the genuine prospect of success. Kogi state is blessed with abundant opportunities. We need a man or woman who can activate it. All of us can’t be governor at the same time but our next governor must look beyond monthly allocation , a man of proven integrity.
