Over the years higher institutions in the state are exclusive reserve of the colonial master that is to say, the then government pay more attention to the education sector knowing fully well the benefit of education to the vibrant and docile youth incapacitate them for the future task.

The government of the day have deviated from the ways of their forefathers and concentrated on embezzlement of public fund as they believed to be the custom and tradition of the public office holders. The right to education of the people is no longer prioritize by the government.

The VCs, the provost, the Rectors of these institutions cannot autonomously run the affairs of the institutions and hence being subjected to the direction from the Lugard House. The heads of these institutions are afraid in taking any decision to ensure the smooth running of the institutions because they don’t want to loose their prestigious seat of power.

These institutions is gradually becoming a glorified secondary school due to too much interference of the government. The lecturers in these institutions are being treated like slave, the SUGs of these institutions are getting weak day by day all because of government involvement in the system, student right has now became a things of the Past, strike has now become custom and tradition of these institutions. It is high time the government should forget about the location of these institutions and whether one region is been marginalized or not as that could not solved the problem on ground. I believe that founding of these institutions to meet up the standard level is not the function of where they are located.

It only in Kogi State institutions that those lecturers who were sponsored by ETF are regarded as ghost workers. The hope of mobilizing those who graduated this year for NYSC after been delayed in the system for one session termed to be capricious when some of them are not done with their research work before the culture of KSU (strike) began. I am for seeing the institutions of the state being closed down if government did not turned back the hand of time. Full
autonomy should be granted to the institutions of the state to ensure a smooth running of the system without any fear of sanction.

Thanks.
