Nigeria committed itself to the membership of Organisation of Islamic  Cooperation (OIC) in 1986 under Ibrahim Babangida (not Buhari). As Presidents, they are three Nigeria sitting president who have attended OIC summit in persons while others have sent delegations at different times.

Those that attended are:
Umar Musa YarAdua (Muslim), Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (Christian) and Muhammadu Buhari (Muslim).

Another fact you need to know is that OIC has 57 Membership with so many African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory coast etc. They are also Christian dominated countries that are members and some have requested to join (see list below)

This year’s meeting gave Mr president a chance to market his country and asked the OIC to invest in Nigeria. In return, OIC has for the first timsme adopted a resolution to invest in Lake Chad basin recharge and complete the second Niger bridge.

Now if you allow anyone to deceive you into believing that Buhari has islamized Nigeria, may God have mercy on you. But my question would be that, when the second Niger bridge is completed by God grace will you ride on it?

According to Wikipedia “The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation founded in 1969 has 57 members, 56 of which are also member states of the United Nations with 47 countries being Muslim majority countries. Some, especially in West Africa, are – though with large Muslim populations – not necessarily Muslim majority countries. A few countries with significant Muslim populations, such as Russia and Thailand, sit as Observer States, while others, such as India and Ethiopia, are not members.

Member States are:
Africa: Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda.

Asia: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria (Suspended), Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

Europe: Albania, South America, Guyana Suriname.

Countries that have attempted to join but have not secured membership:

Membership attempts:
Belarus – Requested observer status in 2010.
Brazil – Requested observer status in 2011.
Central African Republic – Requested full membership in 2002.
China – Requested observer status in 2012.
Democratic Republic of Congo – Requested observer status in 2008 and full membership in 2011.
India – India, where Muslims are a minority had shown an interest in joining the OIC as a member state at the time of its formation. However, it was opposed by Pakistan. India has never since made a formal application to join OIC as an observer or as a member state. While India’s potential candidacy is supported by some OIC members, Pakistan’s strong opposition and threat to boycott the OIC has effectively led to India’s inclusion in the OIC being blocked. The Pakistan Foreign Office has argued that India’s inclusion in OIC would violate the rules of the OIC, which require that an aspirant state should not have an ongoing conflict with a member state. Kenya – Requested full membership in 2011.
Liberia – Requested full membership in November 2016.
Mauritius – Requested full membership in 2002.
Nepal – Requested observer status in 2008.
Philippines – Requested observer status in 2008. The Philippine government has made attempts to join the OIC, but this is opposed by the Moro National Liberation Front, an OIC observer located in the Philippines. In 2009, the country’s bid received stronger support and has been advocated by Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates, among others. Serbia – Requested observer status in 2008.
South Africa – Requested observer status in 2002.
Sri Lanka – Requested observer status in 2008.

Observer international organisations are:
League of Arab States 1975
United Nations 1976 (Now UN became an Observer of this organisation as far back as 1976 even before Nigeria joined. Out of OIC’s 57 member countries, 56 are member of the United nation)
Non-Aligned Movement 1977
African Union 1977 (AU is also an observer organisation)
Economic Cooperation Organization 1995″
