The political creamlessness within the sphere of Bassa local government political ideology in politics, the Bassa/Dekina Federal constituency (House of Reps), Kogi East Senatorial District has metamorphosed into a ‘double yellow card in the field of politics to the political leadership and representations and an eye opener for Bassa people.
Smiles grip me as the Bassa people have been able to analyse and account for their political loses and negligence in their political space in leadership. Just as John F. Kennedy said: “let us not seek to fix the blame for the past, let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”
Politics and the civility of political calculation of the Bassa people in totality have rose to a hyper democratic analytic bemusement.
Abraham Lincoln once said: “you may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time”. The peak to the democratic fallacy of the said Igala/Bassa Agenda which is an orange song of bitter juice brought to the Bassa people by the Igala’s presumed ‘wise political leaders’. This has reached the brim of a tumbler.
Margaret Cho at a time said: “Politics has less to do with where you live than where your heart is”. Our hearts is to ride on the political horse of the federal House of Representative seat for Dekina/ Bassa Federal Constituency. It is better now than never.
This reminds me of the saying of B. R. Ambedkar, a political truck in the days of his time, he said: “political democracy cannot last unless there lies at the base of it social democracy. What does social democracy means? It means a way of life which recognises liberty, equality and fraternity as the principles of life. The time is now.
Vladimir Lenin also once said: “no amount of political freedom will satisfy the hungry masses”. Yes, no amount of money, items would be shared to individuals, groups that would ‘de-hungry’ our plight. The hungry Bassa masses can only be ‘de-hungrified’ when one of theirs becomes the House of Reps member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal constituency, not minding the political balcony (political party).
Now, the history in brief as John Henrik Clarke clergily once said: “History is not everything, but it is a starting point. History is a clock that people use to tell their political and cultural time of day. It is a compass they use to find themselves on the map of human geography. It tells them where they are but, more importantly, what they must be”.
Where lies the problem after the uninterrupted 8years of Late Hon. Isaac Jimba? The good people of Bassa local government relinquished power to the amicable people of Dekina local government, and by privilege, Hon. Positive Ihiabe was anointed the crown bearer of the office for a two term after which the shift ought to have turned to the Bassa local government people, according to the then oral agreement.
It all started as a joke as the people of Dekina local government tagged the Bassa people inferior and allegedly went inward to intentionally vote out Hon. Ihiabe with the aid of the Bassas through a political deception that was outwardly painted blossom stating that Tom Zakari was only to go for a term aggregating it to the 8years of the initial two terms rotation and after which power would be retired back to the Bassa local government people as amicable as possible. But it came as a surprise when political muscles were mustered for Benjamin Ikani by the same group of political and traditional leaders of the Dekina local government.
The political leaders of Bassa local government at that time saw a reason why agitations should be made for a bridge of civil political democracy arrangement and agreement. It was obvious that the masses of Bassa were led to support him stating that the rotation arrangement went now for 12years.
It surprises the entire Bassa people watching Ikani again and others in the same local government indicating interest to contest. By this, it becomes a 16years of House of Reps. What becomes of the Dekina/Bassa Rotation Agenda? Hahaha, a mirage of the highest order.
One of my political superior, Mao Zedong said: “Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed”. We, the entire Bassa people, have realised our mistakes and now in full capacity over the negligence to claim our political rights and the entire worth of what is our portion in the macrocosm of politics in the democratic ambience of Kogi politics and Nigeria at large.
This reminds me of John F. Kennedy’s saying: “The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened”. Depriving just one person of ours to the helms of the constituency is a deprive to the entire people of the Bassa local government.
My kind advice to the good people of Dekina local government is to admonish Ikani and other aspirants, irrespective of their political balcony (political party) to relinquish their ambition for a Bassa local government person.
Another of my political superior, Albert Einstein said: “All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph
of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small and influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field.”
This also got me a retrospect on my political model Kofi Annan, he said: “we have the means and the capacity to deal with our problems if only we can find the political will.”
B. R. Ambedkar also once said: “For a successful revolution it is not that there is discontent. What is required is a profound and thorough conviction of the justice, necessity and important of political and social rights.”
On this note, I wish to drop my pen within the sayings of a political warlord, Patrick Murphy, he said: “The political process does not end on election day. Young people need to stay involved in the process by continuing to pay attention to the conversation and holding their leaders accountable for the decisions they make.”
