And finally the long awaited local government autonomy receives  a positive gavel from the national assembly, i must say a big congratulations to the 8th assembly and indeed Nigerians at large.
This will deepen our democracy and i know history will for good imprint the names of all the active players.
Nigerians have been yearning for this for a very long time, the Local Government as the name implies is the Government at the grassroot level ultimately closer to the people at the grassroot and its independence will definitely fast track meaningful development at that all important level.
With the passage of this and subsequent ratification by the various houses of assemblies at the state levels, this will enable for a government that will be of the people and can be held accountable by the people, by this development one will be waiting to see the excuses local government chairmen will give for lack of performance.
Indeed this is a huge success recorded by the National Assembly, i must reaffirm that they have done their beat and i expect that no state Assembly in Nigeria that will kick against this for though Nigerians as patience as we are,are now more enlightened and politically at  alert to fight any one that will be against our collective interest, hence i expect that all the state legislators will overwhelmingly support this as they will do to the bill that will ensure autonomy to the State Assemblies i cant wait to see bill passed totally in law, it is a thing of shame to say that many years after the stability of our democracy, our lawmakers at the state level still operate as an appendage of the Executive arm a situation i must say is highly pathetic, well my focus today is on the LG autonomy but i pray that the State assemblies will grant themselves same at least if not for their sake, for posterity.
Let me congratulate in advance  our state lawmakers across the federation believing just like some persons in the National Assembly today frustrated the amendments some years back and history has refused to forgive them our  State Legislators will this time around make the difference.
God bless federal republic of Nigeria.
