The needless noise over the Kogi West Senate ticket clearly shows there is more to the idle agitation. Every political party is constitutionally established and have its internal modus operandi to address confronting issues including primary elections within the party and party tickets.
The pretentious cry over PDP ticket and seeming show of political immaturity by the incompetent Hon. Sunday Karimi puts many in surprise and wonder.
Many, particularly the good people of Yagba Federal Constituency, will recalled vividly how the same Hon. Karimi openly betrayed the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), a platform he used in 2011 after he was rescued to win the House of Reps election,. The first things he did was to disconnect himself completely from constituents, including those who spare headed his election and under few months, he jumped ship and left the party. During those period, Hon. Dino, then with late political Icon, Prince Abubakar Audu, were major leading voices of opposition in Kogi State. We all knew there role and support at ensuring that same Hon Karimi got his party ticket to win. That story is for other time.
Karimi, as usual of him to be desperate over political office, moved with all pretentious signal to have loved his party, PDP, but was on the other hand a coupist and anti- party character.
At the inauguration of the current House of Representatives, Hon Karimi surprisingly disobeyed the party, when PDP legislators were tasked to vote Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Speaker. Karimi voted for Hon. Gbajabiamila.
He has constantly betrayed the any party he belongs to. This time, his renewed planned acts of betrayal against PDP on Kogi West Senate ticket won’t fly.
He is a serial anti-party agent and desperate power seeker with no positive result.
One may ask; is Karimi better than Hon T.J Faniyi who withdrew his Senate form and took House of Reps form in obedience to the overall interests of the party? Not because of any fear, but total respect for party supremacy and demonstration of political maturity.
Is Karimi more popular or competent than other aspirants? No! But the whole drama remains his desperation which has for long becomes his trademark.
I wonder how Karimi thinks he can match or compare himself with distinguished Senator Dino Melaye, in terms of intellectual and legislative competence, achievements, popularity and wider acceptability from the good people of Kogi West.
One thing catch my fancy and surprise and that is; Senator Dino Melaye, who by reasonable and honest justification, ramifications and legislative representation will be adjudged or appraised as outstandingly tall, excellent performer, qualitative leadership and competent has been busy and seriously consulting, engaging and meeting Party Executives at all levels, meeting leaders, elders, stakeholders, women groups and the youths, appealing and soliciting for their supports and backing to fly the party ticket into victory by God’s grace come 2019.
Compare that with Karimi, who have no one single successful identifiable pro- people Bill to his credit among his colleagues in the House Reps, who doesn’t have the political stamina of his own to win election, no valid presence in Yagba Federal Constituency developmentally under him, not known politically in Kogi West, and his self acclaimed achievements are not encouraging with his three years of under-performance.
He is busy castigating and sponsoring media attacks against the personality of Senator Dino Melaye and any opposing voice to his dangerous candidature. Because he wants to scuttle the party’s bright chances come 2019, if not him. He is only interested in clinching the party ticket at all cost thereby relegating competence and legislative astuteness into the dustbin which are critical to the legislative office and major deciding factors of the people.
Honestly, his score-card is not interesting, not marketable as a current Rep member.
I therefore advise him strongly to improve and conform himself with issue based politics and decorum, rather than engaging in his usual destructive politics against Sen Dino Melaye who is currently and naturally been favoured by the party agreement in line with the MOU signed with r-APC by the highly respected and competent leadership of our great party, PDP.
Signed:
Idris Angulu
Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency.
