My Dear Yahaya Bello , there is hunger in the land of Confluence state. Kogi State workers are not slaves.
Life is miserable, the Governor should remember that part of dividends of democracy is salary of workers which is a matter of right and no government under any guise should tamper with that right if such government is to understand the enormity people were passing through.
Please note that this is not the time for showmanship and brinkmanship. It is time to show compassion, otherwise,
all that is left of the goodwill you have been enjoying in the state will be squandered.
You must also stop telling civil servants stories about dwindling revenue from the Federation Account. How you run the state and pay civil servants is your business.
You told the people that you were capable of effectively running the state; that was why they voted for you in the Primary Election that made you 1st runner up in the APC Primary, if you are no longer capable, please resign. Governors who are incapable of ensuring financial sovereignty for their states have no business remaining in government houses a day longer.
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has joined the league of governors pummeling civil servants. He made very well scripted promises at the inception of his administration on welfare of civil servants when he said his administration will not tolerate percentage or half salaries to the civil servants but today, he is doing contrary.
I can’t understand how he got to this level with workers’ well-being. The state is completely backward in all ramifications because we have a leadership that is not prepared to learn from the past, and is not prepared to lead.
The Governor must be reminded the exact words of the ICPC:
“ICPC will like to sound a note of warning to some states. I am sure we all read about bailout funds to states which are unable to pay salaries.
“Part of what we do is to monitor where government funds are kept and how they are spent. There are concerns that bailout funds are not going to the purposes which they were meant for. “This issue of running after funds after appropriation will not continue. We will follow how bailout funds are disbursed and the beneficiaries.
“I am calling on all the beneficiaries to pass information on the use of bailout funds to ICPC to achieve what is required.”
I make bold to say that Kogites are ready to official involve anti-corruption bodies, Governor Bello must tell us where he kept our N20billion bailout fund.
