Application of force, intimidation and other violent means cannot guarantee electoral victory in a civilized contemporary society. Only humility and rich pedigree will do it without stress.
Lolly Daskal stated in the year 2006 as I quote; ” Nobody likes being criticized. But how you handle the criticism makes all the difference. If you lock up and become defensive, you’re likely to waste a lot of time feeling bad and repeating the same behavior that was a problem to begin with.
But if you can learn to take it in stride, with some genuine reflection on how you can use it as a basis for improvement, you can come to realize that criticism can actually be a gift.”
The above citation should deterrently serve as a lesson to all public, political office holders and all those seeking various public offices ,who may think, they must defend everything even when the issue is indefensible and staggeringly ugly to defend. As a leader with followership of different people with diverse mentality, beliefs ,needs and choice of life, do not think that you alone can think right without any input from subjects at all the times. This egoistic behavior and leadership disposition has sent into extinction, the political career of many risen political stars, the earlier we sacrificially forfeit our ego and do the needful, the better!
Forceful approach such as employment of vulgarity, pecuniary inducement and intimidation of any kind against perceived dissenting voice especially ordinary citizen, compelling him or her to support your principal without any iota of conviction, mutual or political understanding, is conspicuously a deceptive approach usually adopted by apolitical politicians, who may unexpectedly and unpreparedly finds their way in without bothering to know what politics entails, and those are the class of political actors that always wants to be spoonfed by the ordinary citizen who is already burdened with almost daily increment of negativity. In the technologically advanced society like ours, any politician should be able to find other pragmatic ways of standing the test of time.
I can state without any modicum of doubt that no one can democratise autocracy in a civilized democratic nation like Nigeria.
