Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow Yagba compatriots, I am forever grateful to God for the opportunity to write this letter to you.
I hope this letter of mine will not be thought disrespectful to those honorable men, if, entertaining as I do opinion of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely, and without reserve. This is no time for politics as usual or ceremony.
The question before us is one of great importance to our political future. I consider it nothing less than a question of selfish ambition or respect for the laid down zoning formula.
It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility, which we hold to God and to the people of Kogi West. Should I keep my opinion back at such a crucial time, for fear of giving offense, I should consider myself a coward guilty of treason towards my people, and of an act of disloyalty towards the heavens, which I revere above all else.
Having received with gratitude, the gesture of Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency in conceding the Senate position to Yagba federal constituency, it is important to note that of all the local governments in the constituency and senatorial district, only Yagba East has never produced a single senator. In the spirit of fairness and justice, Yagba federal constituency resolved to support Yagba East to produce the next senator.
Senators Adeyemi Smart and Melaye Dino of Ijumu local government that has occupied the the seat for the past twelve years (to be completed by Dino come 2019) of which they are currently aspiring for more if given the opportunity is a direct affront and a threat to the existing formula and unity of Kogi West, Okun nation vaguely.
Compatriots, who will not be hammer in history will be an anvil. Come 2019, Yagba has a choice between the two blacksmith’s tools, shall we be an anvil on which they actualise their selfish ambition? Shall we allow those two who have traded and will continue to trade our collective interests for their personal gains? Shall we forgo the chance to produce the best senator come 2019 ? – No, I solemnly protest against this.
Fellow brothers and sisters of YAGBA descent, it is our time to give the qualitative, credible and competent representation the people of Kogi west deserves which those honorable men of self service has failed to provide.
Bamidele Eyitayo Onile from Isanlu, Yagba East local government, is our own, our son, brother and victim of misrepresentation, he’s a rightful heir to the senatorial seat and above all, he is a progressive element who believes in selflessness. He possesses all the required qualities, skills, will and charisma to make a positive impact and a progressive change.
A vote for Bamidele Eyitayo Onile, Kogi West Independent Democrats (ID) senatorial candidate is a vote for progress, unity and emancipation of our people.
In your hands, fellow compatriots, and not in mine alone, is the answer to this question of great importance;
Shall we be the hammer or the anvil?
Shall we allow those selfish honorable men or respect for the laid down zoning formula to prevail?
