Your Excellency sir, greetings to you from a concern citizen of Kogi State. I hope this letter meet you in good health. I choose to reach you through this medium because I felt this is the only way I could reach you as you’ve been barricaded from seeing objective minded persons.
I choose the first day of March to write to you because I felt with each day counting, the general election is drawing nearer and your focus on the election to impress the Presidency has caused you more harm than good.
In the early days of your office, after giving you some months to settle down and form Your ย government, I wrote an article questioning your capabilities to lead Kogi to the promised land when I saw the caliber of people you surrounded yourself with. People without experience of governance, and no leadership track records of any form were handpicked and giving sensitive ย positions to manage. But we gave you the benefit of doubt and tagged your success or failure to Time.
Today time has revealed to us that your actions and policies as a result of your inexperience and the inexperience of those you surrounded yourself with ย especially the ย total overhauling of Heads of ministries when you have not studied the workings of the ministries to understand if it needed change or not was not good for the polity.
Kogi state is a very political conscious state where every citizen is interested in what happens in government. That you conducted screening for two years without any appreciative outcome was one of your major undoing. It was your mistake and you are to blame for not considering the sensitivity of workers in Kogi State before embarking on screening that end up not yielding results.
That you proscribed ASUU KSU without looking at the repercussions was another of your gross errors. Whoever advised you to do that does not like you, he or she absolutely led you astray. Our high institutions today look a shadow of their former selves. Many qualified lecturers can’t be found in our institutions any longer and the once that are there are not being remunerated enough to be motivated.
We have gone round to the sites of major projects you awarded especially the road construction sites, ย to my greatest surprise there is no contractor presently working on any of the roads you awarded and gave timing for handing over which is already passed. Fillers have it that the contractors are not mobilized so they opted for a break. Please what is happening?
For the past two months, the residents doctors have been on strike and you seem not to care. Isn’t this an omen that you are being bewitched? I am sure you need Devine intervention to see the damages this has to your person and everyone around you.
Our economy is in shamble, our educational sector is bastardized, the health sector is bad, you don’t pay salaries, you don’t construct roads, death is at a high rate, there is hunger in the land, very serious hunger and yet your major concern is 2019, how do you think you can get out of this when your time in office is running out?
It is painful though, that you are a youth and from our constituency. I sympathize with you and wished that you did well. I wished that you succeeded. That would have sent a message that the youth can actually do it better as a booster to the NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN bill. But you messed it all and now nobody want to hear about youth leadership anymore. You are truly a bad example to that bill.
How can you be thinking of 2019 when you have this load on your head? Are you aware that whoever comes near you in support will be being politically ostracize by Kogi citizens? It is that bad sir. The people around you are helpless and you are not helping them at all with your utterances.
I wish you concentrate more on finding solutions to this your many problems than focusing on 2019.
I wish you will think more of a solution to the health workers, to the contractors, to the 24 months salaries issue, to your party problems and many more problems hanging on your neck.
I wish you can give account of the Parish funds, the bail out fund, the ecological funds, the loans, the federal allocations, ย the IGR that has ran into hundreds of billions of Naira.
I wish you will work more on impressing kogites than the presidency. I wish you will not give our lands to the Fulani herdsmen just to impress the President.
I wish you you understand that Kogi State don’t take excuses for failure, that all we care about is results that are positive.
I wish you will understand that your second term bid has been blown away by your own actions and that you can’t reclaim it any longer.
Please focus on this term and forget about 2019, you are not returning to office.
– Comrade Maji Isah
