RE: YOU CAN’T BE MORE OKUN THAN ME

Dear Chief Olafemi,

Despite great efforts on my part to ignore your protestation on the negative reactions of most of our people to the role you have played so far in the debacle the Kogi governorship election has become.

I have read several reactions by many Okun sons and daughters with a clear indication that the people have seen through your deceit and can no longer be taken for a ride. While it is your inalienable right to associate and talk freely among other ‘free’ actions guaranteed by our constitution, your lame attempt at rationalizing your treachery leaves a sore taste in the mouth. Don’t force-feed our people; they can eat on their own.

Your ‘advertorial’ reveals a vain, rapacious opportunist basking in self-glorification. Claiming no single individual who has attained political position, both dead and living has done more for Okun people to advance our socio-economic and political development smacks of emerging senility bordering on idiocy. The plethora of achievements you claimed has been shown to be a bundle of deceit because they are more of personal accomplishments that added marginal value to the lives of our people.

Chief, what you fail to understand is that in life of which politics is an integral part, it is not how long but how well. Your 40 years of politics have always been about the OBEMBE TRINITY DOCTRINE; ME, MYSELF AND I and one can understand your apprehension when you see an ‘import’ achieve in three months what you have toiled unsuccessfully for over four decades of ‘politricking’ to accomplish.

Envy can be a very negative trait in any man. You seem astonished that a genuine leader that majority of our people have come to identify with, who has become a rallying point for the unity of Okun people has emerged in Hon. Faleke.

Though you are neither a novice nor a nonentity in politics, you have become a nuisance as far as majority of our people are concerned. Citing adherence to party directives to justify your perverse decision is not true because I know for a fact that your vision has been blurred by greed and inordinate ambition and these have denied you the composure and dispassionate intervention required of you. Your insatiable desire to govern our state and the window of opportunity the demise of Late Audu provided you could not resist. I witnessed first-hand events during the campaigns and saw the commitment of Hon. Faleke to his party which you can confirm considering the benefits you got. So it was really not the people’s interest that motivated you rather it was the lucre that even your arthritis could not resist.

Watching you speak in Kabba the first day Hon. Faleke visited after his nomination as running mate to Late Prince Audu and comparing that to your ignoble political loitering now confirmed my earlier position that this has never been about love for our people but love for yourself.  I warned that you were no good and could not be trusted considering the spoiler role you played during the primary. I insisted you were still bitter for not been considered worthy to be late Audu’s running mate but was ignored. It baffles me that the same you that schemed to be mobilized to protest the INEC blunder and even dropped a letter to that effect at the APC national secretariat will now for reasons never related to patriotism do a 360 U-turn and try to rationalize it.

You have fought and lost lots of political wars and the present war will end in another loss; that you can be sure of. The constant beam of truth and justice will always outshine the human burden of lies, darkness and deceit. Enjoy your right to do what you are doing now but do not try to rationalize it with falsehood because it is insulting and annoying. You cannot be more Okun than any other Okun son/daughter so stop this delusion because the greed of any individual cannot be equated with the collective votes of over 240,000 kogites as against the supplementary 6,000 and the 50 “prominent’ wise men who gathered in a hotel attempting to destroy our peace and joy in Kogi state.

Hustling is not a crime but we must not allow its few practitioners to trade our future for filthy lucre. The present contraption is being credited to God but soon you will see that God can never be mocked.

I wish you reprieve from the pain of your illness and life to witness the end of this saga to know treachery is not a good virtue.
