Sir,

We, members of the APC Concerned Vanguard in Kogi State, write this open letter out of deep concern for the future, unity, and electoral strength of our great party in Kogi State.

The current APC structures in Kogi State have remained largely unchanged for almost eight (8) years. This prolonged stagnation has weakened internal democracy, discouraged grassroots participation, and widened divisions within the party. A political party that refuses renewal risks losing relevance, credibility, and loyalty among its members.

APC IN KOGI IS NO LONGER UNDER ONE UMBRELLA

APC in Kogi State today is blessed with numerous leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers, but unfortunately, the party is no longer operating under a truly united umbrella. The concentration of party structures in the hands of a narrow interest has created avoidable cracks, silent resentment, and parallel loyalties.

Nowhere is this more evident than in Kogi Central Senatorial District, where the party has produced credible leaders with capacity, loyalty, and grassroots acceptance, including but not limited to:

Hon. Hadi Ametou

Alhaji Ambassador Abubakar Gamji

Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bello (Former Speaker)

Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro

And other founding fathers and loyalists who laboured to build APC in Kogi State before the emergence of former Governor Yahaya Bello, who later had the opportunity to lead and dominate the party structure.

It is important to state clearly that one tendency has produced enough leaders, occupied enough positions, and enjoyed the sweetness of power sufficiently. Equity, fairness, and justice demand that others also be given a sense of belonging.

TIME FOR INCLUSIVE POWER-SHARING, NOT EXCLUSION

This is the time for strategic inclusion, not continued exclusion. Party structures should not be seen as personal property but as collective assets of all party members.

We strongly advocate that APC Congresses at ward, local government, and state levels be conducted afresh, transparently and credibly, to allow new ideas, fresh hands, and wider participation.

The principle should be simple and clear:

“Let the basket be used to share party leadership.”

This approach will:

Restore trust among party members

Reduce internal sabotage

Strengthen grassroots ownership of APC

Rebuild unity ahead of future elections

KOGI WEST AND EAST MUST ALSO BE FAIRLY CARRIED ALONG

In Kogi West and Kogi East, there are also respected leaders and serving representatives who deserve recognition and proper inclusion in party administration.

In Kogi West, Senator Sunday Karimi and other party leaders should be fairly accommodated within party structures.

In Kogi East, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, alongside other committed stakeholders, should also be entrusted with party responsibilities.

No zone should feel marginalized. No leader should feel irrelevant. APC must belong to everyone or it risks belonging to no one.

OUR APPEAL

We therefore respectfully call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party to:

  1. Approve and conduct fresh APC congresses across wards, LGAs, and state level in Kogi State.
  2. Ensure the process is inclusive, transparent, and fair.
  3. Prevent the recycling of the same structures that have deepened divisions.
  4. Use party leadership as a tool for reconciliation and unity, not domination.

This intervention is not against APC; it is for APC. A renewed, inclusive APC in Kogi State will be stronger more united, and more competitive.

We remain loyal members of the All Progressives Congress and committed soldiers of party supremacy.

Long live APC.
Long live Kogi State.
Long live Nigeria.

Signed:

Comrade Ojiah Solomon
