Ooni of Ife Honours Kogi ALGON Chairman

Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has conferred the ‘Irawo Oni’ (today’s star) of Yoruba kingdom award title on the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Taufiq Isa.
At an elaborate event in Ile-Ife on Friday, Ooni said the award is meant to recognize distinguished personalities and celebrate their achievements.
At the event, blacks from different countries, who traced their roots to Yoruba land were ‘re-baptized.
According to the monarch, the Irawo Oodua awards seek to celebrate the entire Yoruba race at home and in diaspora. It is an award designed to establish the Hall of History for proper documentation of the rich Yoruba historical achievements for posterity.
The Administrator, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Ooni of Ife for making Okuns in Kogi State to feel at home in their fatherland. He dedicated the award to royal fathers in the Okun Traditional Council.
