Kogi State Commissioner for Budget and Planning: the face of Kabba/Bunu in the Kogi State Executive Council.
Meet the enigmatic icon
“I am Oloruntoba Kehinde from Akutupa Kiri in Kabba/Bunu LGA, one of the fifteen (15) commissioners serving under the revolutionary and dynamic leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello”.
That Mr Oloruntoba is a man of class both in and out of the nation’s banking sector is a fact that needs no debate. Young, dark, dynamic, debonair and always with a smile, his calm but unassuming demeanor conceals the steely determination and burning passion with which he pursues his goals.
His banking profession parades an array of “heavyweight” clients which include several Federal and State government agencies in Nigeria and international organizations; his acquaintanceship with the high and mighty in the land is a testimony to his professional conduct and courtesies as the State Commissioner on Budget and Planning which has endeared him to many who are generations ahead of him age-wise and particularly, the State Governor.
“I started my career with the then Standard Trust Bank in 2001. The bank later metamorphosed into United Bank for Africa Nigeria Plc (UBA). I rose to become bank manager in 2007 and managed three (3) different branches of UBA in Lokoja. I left UBA in 2014 and was appointed Special Adviser on Project Monitoring to Kogi State Governor on March, 2016. I was elevated afterwards to the post of Commissioner for Budget and Planning on June, 2016”.
He attributes his focus and other positive character traits to a strict parental upbringing and divergent educational exposure.
“I was never drilled, they taught me three indelible lessons and my mind is constantly impregnated with three things: never to consider anything impossible, to be daring in our imaginations, and to strive for integrity and excellence in our exploits. The trajectory of his life thus far has embodied these three qualities.
His first degree was in industrial chemistry from University of Ilorin and Masters in Business Administration from the prestigious Kogi State University. With another LLB degree from Kogi State University, learning was a non-stop.
How does he combine all, and find time for family and friends? A smile flashes on his face, and he says “It is all about the orientation; it is about pushing oneself beyond all imagined limits”. He unwinds by spending time with his beautiful wife and fantastic two (2) kids on weekends.
Always politically inclined, he had served in several leadership capacities dating back to when he was in his teen.
