Oman-based Philanthropist, Amb Abinu Renovates Lokoja Club 1901, Harps on Sports Devt

In a bid to promote sports in Kogi State and discover raw talents, a prominent former Nigeria international tennis player Amb. Gabriel Abinu has renovated various sporting facilities in Lokoja Club 1901 in Kogi State.

Amb. Abinu, who is based in Oman, has continued to give back to the society despite the little resources within his disposal.

The young philanthropist renovated the two tennis court in Lokoja Club, constructed new tennis players lounge, made provision for flood light to enable players play at night, and renovated the buildings at the club.

He extended his zeal to develop sport in Kogi State by renovating volley ball court directly opposite popular amusement park in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Amb. Abinu said his vision is to ensure that Kogi State is among the map of sport development, stressing that, he remains committed to discover more talents that would make both the State and Nigeria proud in the comity of nations.

He emphacized that Kogi State is blessed with raw talents, hence the need to give all the needed support in promoting sports to reduce youths restiveness in the country.

“Giving back to the society has been part of me over the years. When you invest massively in sport, their will be a reduction in youth restiveness in our society. Am into sport and I know what are the things needed in line with international standard.

“As the founder of Coach Gabriel Abinu foundation, I am really delighted to be part of those who have written their names in the anal of history to touch the lives of people with the little we have today. It is my desire to continue giving back to the society till my last breath,” he added.

He called on well to do individuals to assist the government in developing grassroot sports to bring more development in the State.

Amb. Abinu recently paid JAMB fee for over 50 people in Kogi state, sank bore hole for Lokongoma and Angwan Tiv community in new layout Lokoja, to cushion the effects of water scarcity within the metropolis.
