Omala Attack: Gov Ododo Confirms Arrest of Suspects, Sponsors

Governor Usman Ododo has reiterated the commitment of his administration to security of lives and property.

Speaking after the prayer session at Okene Central Eid prayer ground to mark Eid-el Fitr on Wednesday, Ododo announced that suspected sponsors of the recent attacks in Agojeju-Odo and other communities in Omala local government area of the state have been arrested.

“The crisis in Bagana in Omala Local Government did not start today. It has been in existence for over 45 years ago, precisely 1978. We are doing our best to make sure peace is restored within the area.

” As I speak to you today, the suspected sponsors have been arrested, investigation are ongoing. They are giving us useful information that will lead to the arrest of other suspects. As soon as we are done with that investigation, the report will be made known to the public,” Governor Ododo said.

Also, security operatives may have arrested two chiefs and three others from  Bagana communities.

The chiefs allegedly arrested include Onu Omagede (Otutubatu), Alhaji Salifu Anyebe, and his son, Alidu Anyebe, the regent of Onuh Patanyi (Ihiankpe), Mr Ajene and Bosco Atayi.

Their arrest, according to security sources, is connected to their deep knowledge of the crises that had rocked and rocking Bagana and its environs which later escalated to Agojeju Odo and other neighbouring villages.

Armed gunmen invaded the community in the late hours of Thursday, April 5, 2024 and killed no less than 25 persons. Several properties were razed in the attack.
