Youth leaders of Okun extraction have resolved to bury their political differences and support the Governor-elect Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
This position was expressly stated in the communique released at the end of the meeting and made available to newsmen.
Arising from a well attended meeting in Kabba today, the youth leaders agreed to put all personal and sectional interests aside in favour of the general interest of all Kogites.
The leaders, while acknowledging the constitutional right of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke to seek redress in court, urged all party faithfuls to ” submit to the will and supremacy of our political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)”
According to the communique signed by the Chairman of the Youth Leaders Group, Adeola Eseyin and Olu Majek, the General Secretary, the youth leaders across the length and breadth of Okun Land have decided to align their political structures behind Yahaya Bello to ensure the success of his incoming Government.
“We implore all other camps to work harmoniously with the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the betterment of Okun Land and to pave way for peace and tranquility in Kogi State.
The Youth leaders decried the marginalization of Okun in political appointment patronage and employment into Kogi State civil service. They expressed their firm belief that the incoming government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello will correct this long standing anomaly.
According to the group, Okun Land had also been unfairly marginalized in terms of industrial and infrastructural development which is evident in the current state of roads across Okun land. They called on Yahaya Bello to rehabilitate the Obajana – Kabba road in particular, and every vital roads in Okun Land.
Other notable youth leaders present at the meeting are Otunba Yomi Johnson Prince Taiwo Orebiyi, Engr, Lateef Oyetoke and Hon, Taiye Bello.
